Baby Lead Weaning

I have read about baby lead weaning (BLW) in the past, but never actually tried it out. It is a method of introducing a baby to solids where you do no use any spoons. The parent offers different foods of varying textures to the baby and the baby essentially feeds themselves. In this way you are completely bypassing the delightful collection of Gerber baby food jars. I am not an expert on the subject so this is just a summation.

No, Tidus did not eat this apple, it's just a pic :)
As I mentioned in previous posts, Tidus knows what he wants and what he does not want. His personality lends itself to a baby who might flourish with BLW. For BLW you do not start until baby is at least 6 months and has met some other criteria such as sitting up on their own and getting rid of the tongue thrust reflex. Therefore we will continue to exclusively nurse until Tidus is a little older and then give this BLW a try. :) I must say I am much more excited to try BLW than I was to start mixing and mashing oatmeal cereal.

TIMBERRRRRRR!!!!
The tree trimmers are coming, the tree trimmers are coming!

This entire week all the trees in our complex are getting a much needed hair cut. And yes we do have trees. Contrary to what everyone in Washington warned us, there are a lot of trees around us. Today the trimmers are right outside our window. If I was home alone this would just be awkward but since I have a 2 year old it is a lot of fun. Large chunks of trees topple to the ground as Ted stares on in amazement.

One landing spot of the tree chunks is the heavily decorated back patio of our noisy neighbors. We call them the margarita ladies because on random week nights there will be a group of women hanging out on their back patio drinking alcohol and talking extremely loud! They are right outside our bedroom window so you can imagine my rage when they wake me up at 11:30 PM on a Wednesday night mere minutes before they wake up my 5 month old.

BUT the heavens have opened and we have new neighbors living right above the margarita ladies and last night as I nursed and rocked Tidus to the sounds of, "OH I KNOW, TOTALLY, BLAH BLAH BLAH, CACKLE, CACKLE" (did I mention they also cackle super loudly). I heard the upstairs man come out and yell at them that he has a meeting early in the morning and they need to take it inside.

Maybe I will send him a fruit basket :)
